North Eastern Jewish Centre together with Zionism Victoria recently hosted a popular webinar titled: An Inside Scoop – Why I Quit My Job at Ben & Jerry’s – Ben and Jerry and BDS.

About the webinar:

The talk will host Susannah Levin, former graphic designer at Ben & Jerry’s for the past 21 years, who upon hearing the announcement that Ben & Jerry’s would no longer sell their products in the ‘Occupied Palestinian Territory’, and farther news of plans to destination sales in Israel entire, quit her job.

Hear her story, alongside expert analysis from Joel Burnie and Jason Eisner as they are joined by moderator Lexi Kowal for an enlightened word.

About the speakers:

Susannah Levin has worked as a graphic designer for the designing section at Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream for the past 21 years. Susannah has a BFA in Advertising designing and Fine Arts from Columbus College of Art & designing. She lives with her husband and daughter in upstate New York. Her eldest son and his wife are Olim and their baby daughter is the foremost sabra of the house unit. Her younger son is proudly serving in the Israeli Defence forcefulness.

Joel Burnie has over ten continual years of active community participation through elected positions in various organisations. He is currently the Associate manager of Public Affairs at the Australia/Israel & Jewish Affairs Council and served as a student program coordinator and policy analyst before that. He was also the president of the Australasian Union of Jewish Students in 2007. He has a B.A. in political science and anthropology and a Masters of Law (Juris Doctorate) from Monash University. Joel addressed the topic of BDS, providing historical context to the BDS movement and explaining how and why the movement has been linked with Antisemitism.

Jason Eisner is a principal of BrandQuest, a strategy culture and brand management company operating out of Sydney. Since co-founding BrandQuest in 2007, Jason has worked on over 100 local and international organisations from start-ups to ASX listed as well as not-for-profits. Prior to establishing BrandQuest, Jason had 15 years of strategic marketing and operations experience in senior management and consulting roles including: The Cambridge grouping (New York and Chicago) Nuvisio (New York venture backed start-up), Accenture and Tip Top Bakeries (Sydney).

Jason addressed the marketing angle, discussing how and why companies choose to make decisions like Ben & Jerry’s and how these decisions impact them.
