Mark Benfield is a biological oceanographer in the College of the Coast and surroundings, section of Oceanography and Coastal Sciences at Louisiana State University. He received his BSc. from the University of Toronto, MSc. from the University of KwaZulu-Natal, and PhD. from Texas A&M University. He did his postdoctoral work in the Biology section at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution where he continues to take hold an Adjunct Appointment. Mark’s research examines plastic pollution, zooplankton ecology, and deep-sea ecology.
